How To Survive Without A Hand Blender
What was the world without Hand Blenders? Is it even possible to imagine all the work that used to be involved in daily cooking, especially if you love creamy soups, without one of these handy kitchen gadgets.
OK, so here are some of your alternatives:
1. It is of course possible to use a normal blender.
This can work pretty well for almost all your purposes; you can make tasty smoothies, creamy soups and more. The problem, of course is that it is difficult to process a big batch of soup.
You may find that you will have to do your soup in batches, bit by bit while you can simply process the whole lot in the pot with a hand blender. There is also the possibility of a mess if you put too much soup at a time in your normal one. I've had quite an explosion once!
A normal one is also far more difficult to clean and most hand ones will have dishwasher safe parts for easy cleaning.
2. Using a manual masher:
It is of course possible to use a masher to mash your soup. This will give you a more or less creamy result if all the food in the soup is very soft. You are not going to have any success with the meat though and you will have to cut up the piece s of meat very small.
There are kinds of soup that you do not want completely creamy and all you want to do is more or less "bind" it and then you will not get a better tool than your normal masher.
3. Using a Food Processor:
Well, this is an excellent option. You can do almost anything in a good food processor. You will still have to process your soup in batches though as most Food Processors will make a mess if you over fill them.
Apart from that, you can use a food processor for lots of different tasks. You can even make smoothies with it as well.
So, those are your option if you do not have a hand blender.
